Våreld!/Spring fire! (Kalanchoe)

Vi har då och då fått fina Kalanchoe som vi har tagit hand om efter bästa förmåga. Eller oförmåga. Våreld/höstglöd är en jättefin växt, ofta förekommande. Och alla har sagt att det inte går att få den att blomma igen. En typisk slit-och-släng-blomma som kastas när den blommat över.

Inte i detta hus. Det tog några år men nu är vi där. Kalanchoen blommar!

We have occasionally been given fine Kalanchoe that we have taken care of at the best of our ability. Or inability. ”Spring fire”/Flaming Katy is a really nice plant, frequently seen. And everyone has said that it is not possible to get it to bloom again. A typical wear-and-throw-flower to be thrown out after flowering.

Not in this house. It took a few years but now we are there. The Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is blooming!

Arbetsdag med kulturell touch/Working day with a cultural touch

Ett rätt udda uppdrag i arbetet är att delta i ett firande av kungens 70-årsdag (ja, deltagandet gällde ju inte bara själva firandet utan även arrangerandet). Det medförde ett besök på Dramaten, Sveriges nationalscen, och föreställningen ”En afton om Östersjön – hoppfullhet och hot”. Riktigt bra blev det! Och fullsatt i lokalen! A somewhat odd mission in working life is to participate in a celebration of the King’s 70th birthday (well, the participation didn’t involve only the celebration itself, but also the organization). This meant a visit to the Royal Dramatic Theatre, Sweden’s national stage, and the show ”An Evening on the Baltic Sea – hopefulness and threats”. It was really good! And the premises were crowded! Föreställningen sänds i Kunskapskanalen lördagen den 30 april kl 11.40 och fredagen den 6 maj kl 14.00, båda gångerna under programpunkten UR Samtiden.

Badrumsfix/Bathroom fix

Badrummet i vår lägenhet i de södra förorterna är pyttelitet och fram till nu rätt ofunktionellt.

Ut med badkaret, in med tvättmaskin och torktumlare. Nu duschar vi utan att behöva klättra över en badkarskant och tvättar utan att behöva boka i förväg. Och vi slipper surna till på alla som inte sköter den gemensamma tvättstugan och reglerna för bokning på rätt sätt. Vad skönt!

The bathroom in ur apartment in the southern suburbs is tiny, and up to now quite unfunctional.

Out goes the tub, in go washer and dryer. Now we shower without having to climb into a bath tub and wash without having to book in advance. And we don’t have to turn sour on those who wont manage the common laundry room and the rules of reservation correctly. How nice!

Namnsdag/Name day

I måndags 11 april firade vi vår gemensamma namnsdag. Enkelt utan några som helst extravaganser. Utom stekt inlagd strömming förstås, det är extravagant!

On Monday, April 11, we celebrated our shared name day. Simple, without any extravagances. Except fried pickled herring, of course, that’s extravagant!

Namnsdag-2016 — Vi dukade inte ens fint, men strömmingen var god!/We didn’t even lay the table nicely, but the herring was good!

Tussilago farfara!

Senaste promenaden på nordlig breddgrad skedde för nästan en vecka sedan. Det var en jakt efter vårtecken. Länge såg det hopplöst ut. Men sedan… där! Där stod de! Den enda lilla samlingen tussilago på hela sträckan, men så välkomna! Bakom ryggen på fotografen såg Kramfors Driving range inte riktigt redo ut än.

Last promenade on the northern latitude was done almost a week ago. It was a lookout for signs of spring. For a long time it looked hopeless. But then … there! There they were! The only little collection of coltsfoot on the entire route, but so welcome! Behind the back of the photographer Kramfors Driving range did not look quite ready yet.

Promenad till stugan/A walk to the cottage

Skönt väder och behov av frisk luft, motion och natur. En bra kombo som ledde till en promenad till Johns och Britts lilla stuga. Den har legat i vinteride och behövde tittas till. Allt såg ok ut, i alla fall på utsidan (vi gick inte in).

Nice weather and a need for fresh air, exercise and nature. A good combo that led to a walk to John’s and Britt’s little cottage. It has been in hibernation and needed to be checked. Everything looked OK, at least on the outside (we did not go in).

Födelsedagsfirande/Birthday celebration

Födelsedagsdags igen! En aprildag för 87 år sedan föddes Britt och det ville vi naturligtvis uppmärksamma. Men vi får erkänna att arbetet med att få firandet på plats nog mest belastade födelsedagsbarnet själv. Som vanligt rullade vi hem därifrån…

Birthday time again! One April day 87 years ago Britt was born and we naturally wanted to pay our respects. But we must admit that the process of getting the celebration in place probably mostly burdened the birthday child herself. As usual, we rolled home from there …
