Högt vatten vid stugan/High water at the cottage

Vi for till Johns och Britts lilla stuga för att kolla läget efter den otroligt snörika vintern. Att det är snösmältning går inte att ta miste på, det var extremt högt vattenstånd i sjön. Det går nätt och jämnt att ta sig in i stugan torrskodd.

We headed to John’s and Britt’s little cottage to check out the situation after the incredibly snowy winter. The fact that snow is melting can not be missed, there were extremely high water levels in the lake. It is barely possible to get in inside the cottage with dry feet.

Vatten nära trappan. Water close to the stairs. — Å andra sidan kan man dyka ner i sjön direkt från stugtrappan. *On the other hand you could dive into the lake directly from the cottage stairs.*

Detta års surströmming/This year’s fermented herring

Till sommarens slutskede hör surströmming, i alla fall bland oss traditionalister i Sverige. Vi fick vår dos ute i den lilla stugan, tillsammans med John och Britt, Urban och Anette. En riktigt trevlig afton med stilla regn.

The end of summer means fermented herring, at least among us traditionalists in Sweden. We got our dose out in the little cottage, together with John and Britt, Urban and Anette. A really nice evening with tranquil rain.

Stugköksfix III/Cottage kitchen fix III

Köket är nästan klart – efter byte av avloppsrör och några andra småsaker. Vi skulle bara att sätta på vattnet och testa – trodde vi. Det visade sig att det inte kom något vatten trots att pumpen arbetade som den skulle. Rörmokare Sigge konstaterade till sist att en koppling under huset hade gett upp och att allt vatten rann ut på marken under golvet i stället för till kranen. Lösning: att klä av sig, krypa in under huset i leran och fixa det. Grovrengöring i sjön. Efter en sista åtgärd fungerar det tillfredsställande.

The kitchen is almost ready – after changing the drain pipe and some other little things. We would just put on the water and test it – we thought. It turned out that there was no water although the pump worked as it should. Plumber man Sigge finally found that a connection under the house had given up and that all water ran out onto the ground underneath the floor instead of to the faucet. Solution: get undressed, creep under the house in the mud and fix it. Coarse cleaning in the lake. After some final measures it works satisfactorily.

Stugköksfix II/Cottage kitchen fix II

Nästa steg i stugköksfixet blev att såga till nya bänkskivor. Det blev en hel del pusslande. Sedan måste ny kran dit. Och avlopp. Och nytt skydd för väggen.
The next step in the cottage kitchen fix was to sow new countertops. It was a lot of puzzling. Then a new faucet had to go there. And waste water outlet. And new protection for the wall.

Stugköksfix I/Cottage kitchen fix I

På något sätt kom en begagnad diskbänk i vår ägo och vi tänkte att den kunde passa i köket i Britts och Johns stuga, eftersom diskbänken där är för låg och obekväm att använda. Sagt och gjort. Arbetet påbörjades.

Somehow a used sink came into our possession and we thought it could fit in the kitchen in Britts and John’s cabin, since the sink there is too low and uncomfortable to use. Said and done. Work began.

Sjön runt/Around the lake

Extremsemester och att Göra Ingenting går naturligtvis stick i stäv med ambitionen att röra mer på oss. Vi hittade den gyllene medelvägen genom att ta en promenad runt lilla sjön. Mestadels var det fin väg, på sina ställen fick vi kämpa mot vegetationen. Men på det hela taget var det en fin promenad som vi kommer att upprepa.

Extreme vacation and Doing Nothing is of course at odds with the ambition to exercise more. We found the golden compromise by taking a walk around the lake. Mostly there was a nice track, in some places we had to fight the vegetation. But on the whole it was a nice walk, that we will repeat.

Extrem semester/Extreme vacation

Vi har ockuperat lilla stugan ett par dagar för extremsemester. Det innebär att Göra Ingenting. Utom möjligen att lösa ett och annat korsord, läsa några rader i en bok, titta på vattnet och njuta av naturen och stillheten. Det kunde vara värre.

We have occupied the small cottage for a few days of extreme holiday. That means Doing Nothing. Except perhaps to solve an occasional crossword, read a few lines in a book, look at the water and enjoy the nature and stillness. Things could have been worse.

Mer midsommarstuga/More Midsummer cottage

Vi for ut till stugan en stund till i midsommarhelgen, nu tillsammans med Alaa och Farah och deras nästa alldeles nya lilla dotter Sandra. Vi kunde bada – mycket! – och Sigge och Alaa tog båten för att fiska lite. Fisk syntes men ingen nappade. Men en skön dag var det!

We went out to the cottage for a while more this Midsummer weekend, now together with Alaa and Farah and their almost brand new little daughter Sandra. We could swim – much! – and Sigge and Alaa took the boat to fish a little. Fish showed but no one took the bait. It was a beautiful day, though!

Midsommar 2016/Midsummer 2016

En lugn och stillsam midsommar blev det i år igen, i Britts och Johns lilla stuga. De tittade in på en enkel middag och lite trevligt småprat på midsommaraftonen och sedan blev vi ensamma med tystnaden. Vi sov över och fram på midsommardagen for vi tillbaka till basstationen. Där blev det frågetävling på tu man hand framåt kvällen. Alldeles lagom avancerat midsommarfirande för oss.

We had a peaceful and tranquil midsummer this year again, in Britt’s and John’s little cottage. They looked in for a simple dinner and some nice small talk on Midsummer Eve and after that we were alone with the silence. We slept over and later on midsummer day we went back to the base station. There, quiz for two in the evening. Quite enough advanced midsummer celebration for us.

Uppdaterad stugentré/Updated cottage entrance

Lilla stugan, Britts och Johns kära gömställe, behöver lite ansiktslyftning då och då. Nu var det dags att förnya trädäcket utanför köksentrén. En trevlig uppgift i det fina vädret. The small cottage, Britt’s and John’s beloved hiding place, needs a little facelift now and then. Now it was time to renew the wooden deck outside the kitchen entrance.
