Traditionell byafest/Traditional village feast

Återigen hamnade vi på Lockne bygdefest – för vilken gång i ordningen? Som vanligt tillsammans med Maggan och Roger och nu även Lasse. Precis som alla andra hade vi med oss BBQ & dricka. Kubbturnering (vi fick inte ihop ett lag). Sedan dans till musik av två jätteduktiga lokala musiker. De som blev trötta hittade en plats att sova.
Once again we ended up at Locke village feast – what time was this in the course of order? As always in the company of Maggan and Roger and now also Lasse. As all the others we brought BBQ and drinks. A traditional party game tournament (we couldn’t gather a team). Then dance to music from two very talented local musicians. Those who got tired found a place to sleep.

Sedan var det dags för pojkarna från Stockholms södra förorter att titta in. Det blev mycket tid på klipporna, dag som natt. Bad och musik. Även under de tidigare morgontimmarna.

Then it was time for the boys from Stockholm’s southern suburbs to pop by. Much time was spent on the cliffs, day as night. Swimming and music. Even in the early morning hours.

Resultatet av insatserna är ju viktigast. Vi har fått en öppen och fin slänt ned mot vattnet och en härlig utsikt. Dessutom har våra smultron fått ett helt nytt liv. Inte konstigt att Sigge är nöjd med situationen.
The results of the efforts are of course the most important. We have gotten an open and nice slope down towards the water and a fantastic view. Moreover our wild strawberries have gotten a whole new life. No wonder Sigge is content with the situation.

En dag på jobbet/A day at work

Eftersom det är semestertider är det inte så många som jobbar. Men vissa gör det. T ex har Fido förstått sin uppgift i livet. Fotografen höll sig inomhus och fick stå ut med regndroppar på fönstret mellan kameran och motivet. Bytet är dock hämtat från köket.

Since it’s vacation times not very many work. But some do. E.g. Fido has understood his task in life. The photographer kept inside and had to stand raindrops on the window between the camera and the motive. The prey, though, was caught in the kitchen.

Utsikt från ett tempel/View from a temple

Efter en massa naturstädning är det skönt att ta igen sig på vår egen tempelplats, Abu Simpel. Två sittplatser för regenterna – att sitta och se ut över floden. Men i vårt fall kanske inte helt kungligt… Det är därför vi kallar det Simpel istället för Simbel. I övrigt är det helt överjordiskt (typ).

After a lot of nature cleaning it’s nice to have a rest at our own temple spot, Abu Simple. Two seats for the regents – to sit and watch over the river. But perhaps in our case not all that regal… That’s why we call it Simple instead of Simbel. Other than that, everything is all unearthly (kind of).

Så klart ”våra” klippor måste putsas. Nu pratar vi städning.
Of course ”our” cliffs have to be trimmed. Now we talk cleaning.

Vi har… hade ju en riktigt vildvuxen backe nedanför huset. Sigge har avverkat området intensivt, ibland med hjälp av släktingar, ibland på egen hand. När det var dags att flytta alla stockar till en mer tillgänglig plats var det skönt att ha släktingarna till hands. Bland dem Andreas som ställde upp med detta underverk och drog upp allt dit där det kan hämtas. Just dessa dagar tog damerna det lugnt, men de får å andra sidan göra sitt vid andra tillfällen. Mycket grot måste flyttas…

We have… had a really wild slope below the house. Sigge has logged the area intensely, sometimes with the help of relatives, sometimes alone. When it was time to move all the logs to a more accessible place it felt good to have the relatives close by. Among them Andreas who joined in with this miracle machine and pulled everything up to where it can be collected. These very days the ladies took it easy, but they on the other hand get to perform at other occasions. Much branches and twigs have to be moved…

Den lilla gräsmattan kräver trots sin ringa storlek en gräsklippare med klös i. Det har vi nu.
The little lawn demands in spite of its insignificant size a lawn mower with some power. We have that now.

Djurfarmen/Animal farm

Katten Fido har acklimatiserat sig bra. Från början när hunden Viggo hälsade på höll sig Fido inne, på behörigt (eller t o m föraktfullt) avstånd. Nu kan han ligga ute, bara några meter från Viggo. Viggo är dock mer nyfiken på Fido än vice versa.
Fido the Cat has become quite acclimatized. At the beginning, when Viggo the Dog visited, Fido stayed indoors, at a safe (or even contemptuous) distance. Now he can lie outside, only a few meters from Viggo. Viggo is however more curious of Fido than vice versa.

Varm bil/Hot car

Den av oss som har plikter i Stockholm måste förstås vara där ibland. Denna gång per bil (även om tåg nog är det bekvämaste färdsättet). Men återigen (detta hände även när vi senast for åt andra hållet) blev bilen kokande het i bilkön som rörde sig med farten 10 km/h in mot city. Bara att ta det cool och vänta tills även bilen gjorde det och kön började röra sig så att vi fick lite kylande fartvind. Det tog ungefär två timmar tills det hände – så klart var detta sommarens hittills varmaste dag. En bok är aldrig fel i handväskan!

The one of us who has duties in Stockholm of course has to be there every now and then. This time by car (although train probably is the most comfortable means of transportation). But again (this also happened when we last time went the opposite way) the car got boiling hot in the line of cars that moved with the speed 10 km/h towards the city. The only thing to do was to be cool and wait until the car too was cool and the queue started moving in a pace that gave some cooling wind. It took about two hours for that to happen – naturally this was tha hottest day so far this summer. A book never is wrong in one’s purse!
