Utflykt årets sista dag/Excursion last day of the year

Vi gjorde en liten nyårsaftonsutflykt till Storvattnet eftersom vädret var fint och vi vet att det är en så fin plats. Vi var helt ensamma förstås, förutom att en del åkte snöskoter på isen, men väldigt långt ifrån oss så det störde inte särskilt mycket.

We made a small New Year’s Eve excursion to Storvattnet because the weather was nice and we know it is such a nice place. We were completely alone, of course, except that some rode snowmobiles on the ice, but very far from us so it did not bother much.

Det är många som kör snöskoter på sjöarna men vi slapp ha dem nära denna gång. Annars är det nog mest djur som gjort spåren. *There are many who drive snowmobiles on the lakes, but we did not have them close this time. Otherwise, it is probably mostly animals that have made the tracks.*

Kaffe och smörgås i solskenet. Det kunde vara värre. Vi har kraschat vår bästa termos så den gamla slitna fick duga. Den håller kaffet varmt den med. *Coffee and sandwich in the sunshine. It could be worse. We have crashed our best thermos so the old worn one had to do. It, too, keeps the coffee warm.*

Gott Nytt År 2020/Happy New Year 2020

Vi firade som vanligt nyår i stillhet på tu man hand och med en flaska bubbel. På tolvslaget gick vi ut på altanen och tittade på fyrverkerierna, som var bättre än väntat med tanke på att lagen ändrats. Det är inte roligt för djuren, det kan vi förstå. Men det är fint att se på!

As usual, we celebrated the New Year in tranquility, just the two of us, and with a bottle of sparkling. At twelve o’clock, we went out on the balcony and looked at the fireworks, which were better than expected given that the law had changed. It’s not fun for the animals, we can understand that. But it’s nice to look at!

Nyårsskumpa och glas. — Vi fick tag i en av de sista högst rekommenderade flaskorna bubbel. *We got hold of one of the last recommended bottles of sparkling wine*.

Fyrverkeri över skolan. — Ett fint fyrverkeri kom från huset bakom skolan. *Nice fireworks came from the building behind the school*.

Kallstart 2017/Cold start 2017

Ett par dagar in på det nya året blev det kallt. Gräsligt kallt! Men solen sken så det fick inte hindra från en kort promenad. Vid hemkomsten var fotografen helt nedisad. Det var ingen vacker syn och publiceras inte.

A few days into the new year, it was cold. Awfully cold! But the sun shone so that didn’t stop us from a short walk. On returning home, the photographer was quite icy. It was not a pretty sight and wont be published.

Nyårsafton 2015/New Year’s Eve 2015

Vi tillbringade en lugn nyårsafton hemma. Efter en del oväntade ”tekniska problem” i huset blev det lite tv, så lite lokala fyrverkerier, så lite hummer och enkelt bubbel. Så var det nya året inne.

We spent a quiet New Year’s Eve at home. After some unexpected ”technical problems” in the house there was a little tv, then some local fireworks, then some lobster and simple bubbles. And then the new year had come.

Gott Nytt År 2014/Happy New Year 2014

Vi tillbringade nyårsafton hos Roger och Maggan med deras barn och barnbarn och med Jonas och Elin som kom från Stockholm. Det blev lite fyrverkerier och massor med fantastisk mat.
We spent New Year’s Eve at Roger’s and Maggan’s with their children and grandchildren and with Jonas and Elin who came from Stockholm. There were some fireworks and lots of tremendous food.

Eldigt firande/Fiery celebration

Vi tillbringade nyårsafton i lugn och ro och när klockan blev midnatt blev det något bubbligt på altanen. Det eldigaste vi såg var våra egna brinnande vedträn.
We spent New Year’s Eve in peace and quiet and when the clock struck midnight we hade something bubbly on the terrace. The most fiery we saw were our own burning pieces of wood.

Lugnt nyårsfirande/Quiet New Year celebration

Vi firade det nya året mycket lugnt och stillsamt. Middag med musselsoppa och lammgryta á la Nils Emil. Och champagne förstås.
We celebrated the new year very quietly and calmly. Dinner with clam chowder and lamb casserole á la Nils Emil. And champagne of course.

Nytt år/New year

Vi firade en mycket lugn och stilla nyårsafton på tu man hand. Vi är så bortom allt så vi såg inte ens några fyrverkerier. Men behöver vi det när vi har det här?

We celebrated a very still and quiet New Year’s Eve just the two of us. We are so beyond everything that we didn’t even see any fireworks. But do we need that when we have this?
