I år var det riktigt roligt att delta i nationaldagsfirandet – mycket tack var det vackra vädret så klart. Det var fullt med folk på torget, solen sken och till sist flög ballongerna åt rätt håll.
This year it was really nice to participate in the National Day celebrations – much thanks to the beautiful weather of course. The square was crammed with people, the sun shone and the balloons finally flew in the right direction.
Som vanligt arrangerade Lions Club Kramfors även i år ett båtrace i Kramforsån och den av oss som var på orten deltog, liksom många andra Lionsmedlemmar. Det finns det bildbevis på. Sedan kom efterarbetet, att grundligt scanna åstränderna och plocka upp de små båtar som fastnat. Där var vi ensamma om jobbet. 79 båtar hittade vi.
As usual, Lions Club Kramfors arranged a boat race this year, too, in Kramforsån (Kramfors creek) and the one of us who was in town attended, as well as many other Lions members. There is photo evidence for that. Then came the after work, to thoroughly scan the creek banks and pick up the jammed small boats. We were alone on that job. And found 79 boats.
Plötsligt tillbringade vi en natt i Östersund. Anledningen var att Lions internationelle högste ordförande Jitsuhiro Yamada med fru Toshiko var på besök där. Vi blev som Lions inbjudna att delta i middag med honom. Det var förmodligen första och sista gången vi kommer i närheten av en livslevande internationell president så vi passade på. Det blev en riktigt trevlig tillställning även om vi tyckte synd om paret Yamada som inte pratade just någon engelska och som var tvungna att sitta i princip isolerade från alla övriga vid honnörsbordet.
Suddenly, we spent one night in Östersund. The reason was that the Lions’s International Supreme Chairman Jitsuhiro Yamada and his wife, Toshiko was visiting there. We were invited as Lions to attend the dinner with him. It was probably the first and last time we will come close to a living international president, so we took the opportunity. It was a really nice event although we felt sorry for the Yamada couple who did not speak hardly any English and who had to sit virtually isolated from all others at the top table.
En av oss ägnade helgen åt ideellt arbete i form av insamling till Rosa Bandet i Lions regi. Det hela skedde i konsthallen som omväxling. Den bra mycket varmare och torrare miljön där (i jämförelse med ett dragigt tält ute på torget) bidrog nog till att fikaförsäljningen gick bättre än tidigare år. Det var många som ville ha kaffe och rosa tårta!
One of us devoted the weekend to volunteer work collecting to the Pink Ribbon via our local Lions Club. It all took place in the art gallery for a change. The much warmer and drier environment there (in comparison to a draughty tent in the square) probably contributed to better coffee sales than previous years. There were many who wanted coffee and pink cake!
Båttävling i Kramforsån IGEN! Samma procedur som förra året. Många köpte lotter, en hel del följde tävlingen på plats. Men vädret var lite halvtrist i år. Och för oss började det ”riktiga” arbetet efter själva tävlingen. Räkna in båtarna och gå och fånga upp de som kunde ha fastnat. Ett antal timmars arbete. Men som tur är kan vi överlämna arbetet att uppdatera armadan till gentlemännen i klubben.
Boat race in the Kramforsån creek AGAIN! The same procedure as last year. Many people bought lottery tickets, a lot followed the race on the spot. But the weather was a bit dreary this year. And for us the ”real” work started after the competition itself. Counting the boats, catching those that could have gotten stuck. A number of hours of work. But fortunately we can turn the work to update the armada over to the gentlemen of the club.

Vår ”egen” lilla Lionsklubb fyller 60 år i år. Vi firade med baluns på Hotell Kramm (var annars?) och drygt 60 gäster kom. En av oss fick en stilig stund i rampljuset för att berätta om klubben stolta historia. Och det gjorde han med den äran.
Our ”own” little Lions Club turns 60 this year. We celebrated with a party at Hotel Kramm (where else?) and more than 60 guests joined. One of us got a stylish moment in the spotlights to talk about the club’s proud history. Which he did with honors.
Lördagen den 26 oktober var det ”Rosa lördag” – dagen då Lions samlade pengar till cancerforskningen i allmänhet och bröstcancerforskningen i synnerhet, bland annat genom att sälja rosa band och värdebevis som kunde omsättas i presentpaket, skänkta av lokala företag. Serveringen av kaffe med tårta gav också en del. Tårtorna var sponsrade av olika företag och kommunen med. Folk var ivriga att bidra trots det dåliga vädret.
Saturday 26 October, the ”Pink Saturday” – the day when Lions raised money for cancer research in general and breast cancer research in particular, including by selling pink ribbons and vouchers that could be exchanged into gift packages, donated by local businesses. The serving of coffee with cake also gave some. The cakes were sponsored by different businesses and the municipality, too. People were eager to contribute in spite of the bad weather.
Just nu pågår kampanjen Världens barn för fullt. Lionsklubben i Kramfors drar sitt strå till stacken. De lyckades dra in ordentligt med pengar till kampanjen idag.
Right now the campaign Världens barn, the World’s children, is in full swing. The Lions club in Kramfors does its bit to help. They managed to collect quite a lot of money for the campaign today.
Sigge har gått med i den lokala Lionsklubben och förväntas hjälpa till med goda gärningar med jämna mellanrum. Denna helg arrangerade klubben bingo i stadens centrum och fick in ganska mycket pengar till välgörenhet.
Sigge has joined the local Lions club and is expected to help out with good deeds in regular intervals. This weekend the club arranged bingo in the center of the town and raised quite a lot of money to charity.
