Plötsligt började det snöa ymnigt och vi började hoppas på en vit jul. Men nej, efter några timmar gick temperaturen över noll igen och det blev mer blött än vitt. Men det är ju några dagar kvar till jul så vi har inte tappat hoppet.
Suddenly it started snowing profusely and we began to hope for a white Christmas. But no, after a few hours the temperature went over zero centigrades again and it became more wet than white. But with a few days left to Christmas we haven’t lost hope.

Säsongsblomma/Season flower
Denna tid på året kräver särskilda blommor, eller blomsterarrangemang. Turligt nog har medarbetare barn som gärna far på skolresa. Och för att finansiera resorna måste de sälja saker. Som blomarrangemang. Annars hade det inte funnits något i detta hushåll…
This time of the year demand certain flowers, or flower arrangements. Fortunately co workers have children that happily go on school field trips. And to finance the trips they have to sell things. Like flower arrangements. Otherwise there wouldn’t have been one in this household…
Julstämning?/Christmas spirit?
Nästan allt är utrensat ur det stora rummet. Kvar är bara lite nödvändig utrustning för fortsatt målning o s v. Och gamla mattor. Och gammalt damm. Och en gammal katt. Men också lite julstämning.
Almost everything is cleared out from the large room. Left is only some necessary equipment for continued painting and so on. And old carpets. And old dust. And an old cat. But also a little bit of Christmas spirit.
Julafton/X-mas eve
Precis som förra året tillbringade vi julaftonen hos Britt och John. God mat, lekar och julklappar, i den ordningen.
Just as last year we spent X-mas eve at Britt’s and John’s. Good food, games and presents, in that order.
Vit jul/White Christmas
Vi hoppades på en vit jul i år. Hittills är tecknen goda.
We hoped for a white christmas this year. So far the signs are good.
Jul på jobbet/Christmas at work
I fredags hade vi ett litet jul- och nyårsfirande. Gran och julklappar markerade jul, champagne markerade nytt år. Sista veckan fram till jul kommer att gå fort.
This Friday we had a small Christmas and New Year’s celebration. Tree and gifts indicated X-mas, champagne indicated the New Year. The last week before Christmas will pass quickly.
”Lilla julafton”/”Little Christmas”
Igår var det ”lilla julafton” hos Britt och John. Kristin var med och efter god middag distribuerades försenade julklappar. Sedan spelade vi spel som Sigge vann som vanligt.
Yesterday it was ”little Christmas” at Britt’s and John’s. Kristin joined too, and after a delicious dinner delayed Christmas presents were distributed. Then we played a game which Sigge won as usual.
Julbesök hos far/Christmas visit with Father
På juldagen for vi till Sundsvall där vi plockade upp Karin. Sedan åkte vi till pensionärshemmet i Indal för att hälsa på Hans. Han var glad att se oss och vi hoppas han uppskattar den lilla julklappen.
On Christmas day we went to Sundsvall where we picked Karin up. Then we went to the senior home in Indal to visit Hans. He was happy to see us and we hope he enjoys the little X-mas gift.
Fruset vatten/Frozen water
Mätta och glada promenerade vi hem till Kolbacken på julaftonsnatten, ca 3 km i -30 grader. Vi var rätt utrustade så det gick bra. Men när vi kom hem hade vattenledningen under huset och till varmvattenberedaren frusit – som man ser på bilden är kranen öppen men inget vatten kommer. Inte så bra under helgen… Vi har kallvatten i köket, det är allt.
Full and happy we walked home to Kolbacken Christmas night, about 3 km (2 miles) in -30 centigrades. We were properly equipped so it was ok. But when we got home the water pipe under the house and the pipe to the water heater had frozen – as you can see on the picture, the tap is open but there is no water. Not so good during the holiday… We have cold water in the kitchen, that’s all.
Stilla julafton/Quiet Christmas Eve
Vi tillbringade julaftonen hemma hos Britt och John där vi åt oss nästan fördärvade på Britts härliga traditionella julmat. Därefter julklappsutdelning – damerna kommer i fortsättningen att vara såväl rika som rynkfria. Herrarna kommer att lukta ok. Enligt traditionen vann Sigge sällskapsspelet som vi spelade efter det.
We spent Christmas Eve with at John’s and Britt’s where we were spoiled with Britt’s lovely traditional Christmas dinner. After that, distribution of X-mas gifts – the ladies will hereafter be both rich and wrinkle free. The gentlemen will smell all right. Very traditionally Sigge won the the social game we played after that.
