Äntligen har altanen blivit helt klar inför vintern. Det skulle ha skett förra helgen men det blev så kallt att det inte gick att få upp jorden ur blomlådorna. Nu har det varit varmt så nu var det dags. De sista stackars blommorna åkte över kanten och lådorna hamnade längs väggen.
Finally, the terrace has been made completely ready for winter. It should have happened last weekend but it got so cold that it was not possible to get the soil out of the flower boxes. Now it has been hot so now it was time. The last poor flowers went over the edge and the boxes ended up along the wall.
Penséerna fick vi gratis eftersom det var så sent på sommaren när vi skaffade dem. De betraktades nog som ”slut” redan. Men de står kvar… We got the pansies for free because it was so late in the summer when we got them. They were probably already considered ”finished”. But they remain…Även denna blomma (namnet bortglömt) var gratis och alla vi fick såg helt döende ut. Lustigt att de som man trodde skulle ge sig snabbast överlevde längst, trots höststorm, minusgrader och snö. This flower, too, (name forgotten) was free and all we got looked completely dying. And now the balcony floor is finally cleaned of things. So the snow can come, now it is possible to shovel it away in an easy way.
En stor del av lördagen gick åt till att packa ihop alla saker på altanen inför vintern. Det är lika sorgligt varje år, altanen är ju vårt bästa ”rum”. Det kan bli bra blåsigt där, så det gäller att se till att allt står stadigt och att presenningen är hårt surrad runt soffan. Men nu tror vi att vi fått ordning på sakerna – även om våra långa blomlådor fortfarande står kvar. Vi tar hand om dem senare. Det visade sig att arbete gjordes i grevens tid, det har blåst riktigt hårt sedan dess och i morse var det snö/frost på altangolvet.
A large part of Saturday was spent packing all the things on the terrace for the winter. It’s just as sad every year, the terrace is our best ”room”. It can get windy there, so it is important to make sure that everything is stable and that the tarp is tightly tied around the sofa. But now we think we’ve got things in order – even though our long flower boxes are still there. We will take care of them later. It turned out that work was done in just the right time, it has been blowing really hard since then and this morning there was snow/frost on the balcony floor.

This is about the saddest moment in the tidying up, everything is chaos and you don’t really know how to place the stuff in the smartest way.Men till sist blev det rätt ok ändå. But in the end it turned out pretty ok anyway.
Detta var en dag av överraskningar. Först fick vi besök av en reporter från tidningen Nordsverige, Susannhe Melin. Ett trevligt möte och ett trevligt samtal som framförallt handlade om poängen med att hänga med i Vandringstipset som Kramfors kommun och de lokala orienteringsklubbarna anordnar. Det har vi skrivit om här några gånger och vi hoppas verkligen att kommunen kommer att fortsätta med det. Tack vare det har vi upplevt många platser som annars skulle ha gått oss förbi. (Nja, helt överraskande var väl kanske inte besöket eftersom vi bestämt tid, men lite överraskande var det att någon ville prata med just oss om Vandringstipset.)
Lite senare på dagen knackade det på dörren och utanför stod ett blomsterbud från Henrikssons Blommor. En jättefin höstblombukett som tack för hjälpen-present för utfört arbete inom KSLA:s äganderättsprojekt! Det är inte ofta det vardagliga arbetet blir uppmärksammat, så det var en verkligt fin överraskning.
This was a day of surprises. We were first visited by a reporter from the newspaper Nordsverige, Susannhe Melin. A nice meeting and a nice conversation that was mainly about the point of keeping up with the Hiking Tips that Kramfors municipality and the local orienteering clubs organize. We have written about this a few times here and we really hope that the municipality will keep it up. Thanks to that, we have experienced many places that otherwise would have passed us by. (Well, perhaps the visit was not entirely surprising because we set a time, but it was a bit surprising that someone wanted to talk to us about the Hiking Tips.)
A little later in the day, there was a knock on the door and outside was a flower delivery from Henriksson’s Flowers. A very nice autumn flower bouquet as a thank you gift for helping out with the work done within KSLA’s ownership project! It is not often that everyday work gets noticed, so that was a really nice surprise.

Hösten har kommit på riktigt och det är bra kallt på nätterna. Men våra altanväxter ger sig inte. De står lite glesare nu sedan alla pelargonerna flyttade in, men de som är kvar kämpar på. Vi kan fortfarande skörda tomater, trots kylan. Och vi har till och med penséer fortfarande!
Autumn has come for real and it is quite cold at night. But our patio plants wont give up. They are a little sparser now since all the geraniums moved in, but those that remain are struggling on. We can still harvest tomatoes, despite the cold. And we even still have pansies!
Vi trodde inte att tomaterna skulle klara sig så länge. Men det kommer t o m blommor på dem fortfarande. We did not think the tomatoes would last this long. But there are even flowers on them still.
En sen eftermiddag efter en trött dag gick vi upp till SGU-stugan i förhoppningen att hitta några kantareller. Det gjorde vi inte. Men det är alltid roligt att se hur ängen där uppe frodas, trots bristen på betesdjur.
One late afternoon after a tired day, we went up to the SGU cottage in the hope of finding some chanterelles. We didn’t. But it is always nice to see how the meadow up there thrives, despite the lack of grazing animals.

Det har gått långsamt att få till blommor på altanen i år. Det har mest handlar om tomater, paprikor och citroner hittills. Nu har vi i alla fall tagit oss samman och införskaffat lite blommor, så det har blivit lite mer färg därute. Men det är ganska långt kvar till förra årets standard. Vi får jobba på.
Getting flowers on the balcony has been a slow process this year. It has mostly been about tomatoes, peppers and lemons so far. Now we have at least pulled ourselves together and acquired some flowers, so there is a little more color out there. But it remains pretty far to last year’s standard. We have to work on.
Vi anar en tendens till blomsterprakt i alla fall, men det saknas en hel del än. At least we have a tendency for flower splendor but there is still a lot missing.Lite småmysigt i alla fall. A little cozy anyway.
Även i år vill vi gärna ha lite växtlighet på altanen. Förra året lärde vi oss att växterna behöver lite skydd i början på sommaren för att klara blåsten. Så vi skaffade ett mycket enkelt plastväxthus som får stå ett tag.
This year, too, we would like to have some vegetation on the balcony. Last year we learned that the plants need some protection in the early summer in order to be able to cope with the wind. So we provided a very simple plastic greenhouse that will stand for a while.

Nu är sommaren helt – helt! – över. Blommorna har genomlidit snöblandat regn och frost. Dags att avsluta blomstersäsongen och gå in i fågelsäsongen. Fåglarna har fått ett fågelbord med vindskydd i år.
Now summer is completely – completely! – over. The flowers have suffered through snow-mixed rain and frost. Time to end the flower season and go into the bird season. The birds have had a bird table with wind protection this year.

Även denna sommar slog värmen till, så några dagar gick åt till att göra… ingenting. Det var skönt det också och inget vi klagar över. Bara att inse att svettas, och det gör man.
This summer, too, heat struck, so a few days went by us doing… nothing. That was nice too and nothing we complain about. You just have to realize that you sweat, and that’s what you do.

Almost the only thing you can do on hot days like these (except watering the flowers) is to read a good book, for example this one.Ibland är också en spritzer ett bra val.
