Vi tänkte att vi skulle plocka hjortron för första gången och gav oss iväg mot hjortronmyrarna. Men på vägen passerade vi ett ställe där det uppenbarligen fanns professionella plockare. Så resultatet blev noll.
We thought we were going to pick cloudberries for the first time and set off towards the cloudberry marshes. But on the way we passed a place where there were obviously professional pickers. So the result was zero.
Vi sprang på ett riktigt bra blåbärsställe häromdagen. Så det var bara att utrusta sig för att plocka. Drygt 3 kg/5 liter blev det. Efter att ha rensat bären gjorde vi marmelad av allihop.
We ran into a really good blueberry spot the other day. So the only thing to do was to prepare for picking. We got just over 3 kg/5 liters. After having cleaned the berries we made jam of them all.
När vi hade klarat av australiensarna igår så ägnade vi oss åt det vi hade dragit till skogs för. Att plocka blåbär. Några andra plockare hade tyvärr hunnit före oss så det blev inte så mycket som vi hade hoppats. Men tillräckligt för att hålla oss sysselsatta ett tag.
When we were done with the Australians yesterday we devoted ourselves to what we had gone to the forest for. To pick blueberries. Some other pickers unfortunately had got there before us so we didn’t get as much as we had hoped. But enough to keep us busy for a while.
Vi for till skogs, Sigge, Ylva och John, för att hämta lite av ”skogens röda guld”. Eftersom den äldste av oss har koll på ställena så hittade vi ungefär hur mycket bär som helst. Som vi plockade! Snart var hinkarna i princip fyllda. Det slank med några enstaka blåbär bland lingonen av misstag. Sagt och gjort, nästa dag for vi tillbaka till samma ställe för att hämta ”skogens blåa guld” (”silver”??). Inte riktigt samma resultat men vi klagar verkligen inte. Väl hemma, ja vad hittade vi där? Riktigt fina, stora och mogna svartvinbär. När ska vi hinna äta alla?
We went to the forest, Sigge, Ylva and John, to get some of ”the forest’s red gold”. As the eldest of us have an eye for places we found about as berries as possible. And we picked! Soon the buckets were basically full. A few blueberries ended up among the lingonberries by mistake. Said and done, the next day we went back to the same place to fetch some of ”the forest’s blue gold” (”silver”??). Not quite the same result, but we really cannot complain. Back home, well, what did we find there? Really nice, big and ripe black currant. When will we have time to eat all?
Vi har massor med smultron bakom huset. Men det är oerhört tålamodskrävande att plocka dem…
We have an awful lot of wild strawberries behind the house. But it takes very much patience to pick them…
