I Höga Kusten spritter det av kultur i alla vrår. Kanske allra mest konst, konstnärer och gallerier finns det gott om. Vi har ett fint galleri, Galleri Ängerö, på nära håll och vid senaste vernissagen blev det ett besök. Fin konst och fin musik ingick i upplevelsen (och kolbullar, men dem får andra bedöma).
The High Coast tingles of culture in every corner. Perhaps mostly art, there are plenty of artists and galleries. We have a fine gallery, the Ängerö Gallery, close by and at the latest opening we went for a visit. Fine art and fine music was part of the experience (and the traditional dish ‘charcoal buns’, but others have to judge those).

I år var det riktigt roligt att delta i nationaldagsfirandet – mycket tack var det vackra vädret så klart. Det var fullt med folk på torget, solen sken och till sist flög ballongerna åt rätt håll.
This year it was really nice to participate in the National Day celebrations – much thanks to the beautiful weather of course. The square was crammed with people, the sun shone and the balloons finally flew in the right direction.

Vi hade tänkt ge oss ut i själva verkligheten för att fira Valborgsmäss. Men så blev det jättefint väder och möjlighet att bara luta sig tillbaka i solen med spritzer, deckare och korsord. Och så blev det, alla eldar fick klara sig utan oss. Deras förlust. 🙂
We had planned to go out into the real world to celebrate Walpurgis. But then we had gorgeous weather and the opportunity to just sit back in the sun with a spritzer, a detective story and a crossword. And there we had it, all the walpurgis fires had to do without us. Their loss. 🙂
Ett rätt udda uppdrag i arbetet är att delta i ett firande av kungens 70-årsdag (ja, deltagandet gällde ju inte bara själva firandet utan även arrangerandet). Det medförde ett besök på Dramaten, Sveriges nationalscen, och föreställningen ”En afton om Östersjön – hoppfullhet och hot”. Riktigt bra blev det! Och fullsatt i lokalen! A somewhat odd mission in working life is to participate in a celebration of the King’s 70th birthday (well, the participation didn’t involve only the celebration itself, but also the organization). This meant a visit to the Royal Dramatic Theatre, Sweden’s national stage, and the show ”An Evening on the Baltic Sea – hopefulness and threats”. It was really good! And the premises were crowded! More on what it was about and who were in it here (in Swedish).
Föreställningen sänds i Kunskapskanalen lördagen den 30 april kl 11.40 och fredagen den 6 maj kl 14.00, båda gångerna under programpunkten UR Samtiden.

Det är inte bara levande djur man möter på spatserturerna. Det går att finna fina skulpturer på rätt undanskymda platser i de södra förorterna. Och även en och annan reproduktion ”på avvägar”.
It is not only living animals you meet out strolling. You can find fine sculptures at quite hidden places in the southern suburbs. And also one or another reproduction ”astray”.

Sista dagen för World Press Photo-utställningen i Liljeholmen. God anledning till en lång promenad. Bilderna, många fantastiska och även förfärliga, var väl värda 1,5-timmespromenaden dit (och lika långt tillbaka).
The last day of the World Press Photo exhibition in Liljeholmen. Good cause for a long walk. The pictures, many fantastic and also horrible, were well worth the 1.5 hour walk there (and as far back).

Rubriken låter som namnet på ett äldreboende men det var ju inte det vi skulle skriva om här. Utan om en fantastisk dag i Stockholm som lockade till lång promenad.
Centralbron (ovan) – undrar hur de tänkte när de drog en trafikled av den här kalibern rakt genom vissa av Stockholms vackraste kvarter…?
Slussens runda hus Kolingsborg (nedan) stod kritvitt ett tag men nu har det blivit som det var tänkt. Det är ett konstprojekt, OMSTart Slussen, ”ledande representanter för den svenska graffittiscenen har bjudits in för att på en unik plats göra samtida offentlig konst av högsta kvalité tillgänglig”. Invigning söndag 27 sept men projektet är temporärt, det kommer inte alltid att se ut så här.

The headline sounds like the name of a retirement home but of course that’s not what we want to write about. Instead – a great day in Stockholm which brought on a long walk.

Slussen’s round house Kolingsborg (below) was pure white for a while but now it has become as it was intended. It is an art project, “Restart Slussen”, “leading representatives of the Swedish graffitti scene have been invited to a unique place to make contemporary public art of the highest quality available”. Opening Sunday 27 Sept but the project is temporary, it will not always look like this.

Vi blev bjudna på surströmmingskalas i stugan. Det var riktigt länge sedan sist vi åt surströmming och det var riktigt gott! Härligt väder var det också!
We were invited to a fermented herring party at the cottage. It was a really long time since last time we ate fermented herring and it was really good! Also the weather was beautiful!

Lite stammisar är vi allt, på grillfesten i Lockne som byalaget håller varje år. Vi har inte grillat så ofta men vi gillar stämningen och musiken. Som vanligt blev vi omhändertagna av Maggan och Roger. När vi kom dit var kubbtävlingen i full gång. Inom kort började Andreas Strindlund och Daniel Sjöholm att spela. Vi träffade Phil, en trevlig engelsman som har ett hus i området. Det visade att han var en hejare på att sjunga sitt hemlands folkmusik. Och sedan fortsatte dansen!
We are kind of regulars, at the barbecue in Lockne that the village community holds each year. We haven’t grilled so often but we like the atmosphere and the music. As usual, we were taken care of by Maggan and Roger. When we got there the kubb contest was in full swing. Within short Andreas Strindlund and Daniel Sjöholm began to play. We met Phil, a nice Englishman who has a house in the area. It turned out that he was a whiz at singing his homeland’s folk music. And then the dancing continued!
