Tussilago farfara!

Senaste promenaden på nordlig breddgrad skedde för nästan en vecka sedan. Det var en jakt efter vårtecken. Länge såg det hopplöst ut. Men sedan… där! Där stod de! Den enda lilla samlingen tussilago på hela sträckan, men så välkomna! Bakom ryggen på fotografen såg Kramfors Driving range inte riktigt redo ut än.

Last promenade on the northern latitude was done almost a week ago. It was a lookout for signs of spring. For a long time it looked hopeless. But then … there! There they were! The only little collection of coltsfoot on the entire route, but so welcome! Behind the back of the photographer Kramfors Driving range did not look quite ready yet.

Promenad till stugan/A walk to the cottage

Skönt väder och behov av frisk luft, motion och natur. En bra kombo som ledde till en promenad till Johns och Britts lilla stuga. Den har legat i vinteride och behövde tittas till. Allt såg ok ut, i alla fall på utsidan (vi gick inte in).

Nice weather and a need for fresh air, exercise and nature. A good combo that led to a walk to John’s and Britt’s little cottage. It has been in hibernation and needed to be checked. Everything looked OK, at least on the outside (we did not go in).

Födelsedagsfirande/Birthday celebration

Födelsedagsdags igen! En aprildag för 87 år sedan föddes Britt och det ville vi naturligtvis uppmärksamma. Men vi får erkänna att arbetet med att få firandet på plats nog mest belastade födelsedagsbarnet själv. Som vanligt rullade vi hem därifrån…

Birthday time again! One April day 87 years ago Britt was born and we naturally wanted to pay our respects. But we must admit that the process of getting the celebration in place probably mostly burdened the birthday child herself. As usual, we rolled home from there …

Skön påskdag/Nice Easter Sunday

På gatusidan, norrsidan av huset hade vi 8 grader Celsius. Men på ”rätta” sidan…! Inte nog med att vi ändrade klockorna till sommartid idag, vi fick också nästan sommarvärme.

On the street side, the north side of the house we had 8 degrees Celsius (8 centigrades). But on the ”right” side …! Not only did we turn our watches to summertime today, we also almost had summer heat.

Påsk/Easter

Vi har haft en lugn och skön påsk. Mesta tiden har gått åt till att ”måla” ägg. Till våra ägg behövdes sidenslipsar och gurkmeja – men inte samtidigt, märk väl! Resultatet presenterades vid förnämlig påskmiddag hos Britt och John. Bröderna John och Åke såg inte helt övertygade ut.

We enjoyed a quiet and pleasant Easter. Most of the time we have ”painted” eggs. For our eggs silk ties and turmeric (if that’s the word for the spice) was needed – but not at the same time, mind you! The result was presented at the swell Easter dinner with Britt and John. The two brothers John and Ake did not look all that convinced.

Utsikt & insikt/Outlook & insight

Det fina vädret tar ju inte slut för att man kommer hem. Vi är i den lyckliga situationen att vi har en bra uteplats – vår balkong. Därifrån ser vi bergen och vädrets växlingar. Men den är också vårt ”extrarum”. Där kan det lilla bli det stora, bara man riktar blicken åt rätt håll.

The good weather isn’t over just because you get home. We are in the fortunate position that we have a good outside space – our balcony. From there we see the mountains and the weather changes. But it’s also our ”extra room”. There the small can become big, if only you look in the right direction.

En perfekt vinterdag/A perfect winter day

Meteorologerna utlovade fint väder idag. Hurra, tänkte vi och gav oss ut i själva naturen, just i detta fall Icktjärnsberget. Uppenbarligen var det något på gång vid Icktjärn för så mycket trafik har det väl aldrig varit på denna lilla väg förut (och när någon kör i diket så blir det trafikstockning). I vilket fall så var alla skidspår perfekt preparerade och slalombacken öppen.

Men vi valde till sist mindre trängsel och mer lugn – kaffe och smörgås vid en helt annan sjö.

The meteorologists promised fine weather today. Hooray, we thought and took off into nature itself, in this particular case Icktjärnsberget. Obviously there was something going on at Icktjärn tarn, since there have never been so much traffic on this little road before (and when someone runs into the ditch there will be a traffic jam). Any way, the ski trails were perfectly groomed and the ski slope was open.

But at last we chose to something less crowded and more peaceful – coffee and sandwich at a completely different lake.

Ornitologi igen/Ornithology again

Vi har blivit vana vid att ha stora flockar med domherrar på besök. De har nästan trängt ut talgoxarna. Så kom plötsligt en steglits! Det tyckte vi var spännande för vi har inte sett så jättemånga här tidigare. Och så kom det en till. Och en till. Och en till… tills de var många. Nu har steglitserna nästan trängt ut domherrarna.

We have become accustomed to having large flocks of bullfinches visiting. They have almost driven out the great tits. Then suddenly there was a goldfinch! We thought that was exciting since we haven’t seen so very many here earlier. And then came another one. And another. And another … until there were many. Now the goldfinches have almost outcrowded the bullfinches.

Skid- & skoterspår. — Skid- & skoterspåren var vältrimmade./Ski and snowmobile trails were well trimmed.

Efter ett antal dagar med helt grått väder och mest regnrusk snöar det i skrivande stund. Inte så roligt det heller när temperaturen ligger på ungefär 0. Alltså blickar vi tillbaka en vecka eller så, då vi fick några dagar då det var riktigt skönt att vara ute!

After a number of days with completely gray weather and mostly rain and nasty weather it’s now snowing as this is written. That’s not so fun either when the temperature is around 0. Thus we look back a week or so, when we had a few days when it was really nice to be out!
